Priya approached me after finding me through Instagram, and thought that it was time to create change in the future of Pri Pri after introducing it into the world 7 years ago through Etsy.
Pri Pri is a small local business based in Wimbledon where they use recycled Indian saris to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind kidswear, hand made by upskilled and empowered women. However, over the years they have expanded their creations to producing accessories like silk tote shopping bags and face masks.
With this evolution in mind, we both came to a that:
• We didn't want it to completely look like it only sells kids wear.
• We cannot steer customers away by highlighting the Indian aspect of the business. Although we do use sari/sarees as fabric, most people assume that "only Indian women can wear it" and only to be worn by others for Indian events.
• We need to appeal to the female demographic of 20-45, who want to support a small, local, sustainable and ethical clothing business for the future of the planet.
• Stay true to the bring and bold colours that saris come in, bringing joy and happiness to the customer.
I am so incredibly honoured that I could have a new client on board but I didn't think that it would be to a small, growing business on the other side of the world. Who would've thought that this gal sitting on her laptop in her small one bedroom apartment, would have meeting calls with a client in England?! Without Instagram and having this platform to grow my business, I wouldn't have ever gotten in touch with Priya. Thank you so much for trusting me with the evolution of Pri Pri and I cannot wait to see where the business takes you!
